Awarded BEST IN CATEGORY at the Fort Lauderdale Orchid Show (one of the three largest shows in the US. It had 4000 flowers at the show (2015). In March 2016 it was awarded numerous awards and Grand Champion a the Fairchild International Orchid Show. It had 5000 flowers at the show. Den. speciosum is a native of Australia. It produces some of the most magnificent specimen plants imaginable. None of the different varieties bloom in less than 5 years from seed and some like grandiflorus take 15 years to flower. This plant is about 16 years old and blooms for us every January or February. The plant is about 5 feet wide and 2 feet tall. When in bloom the flower spikes will cover an area 6 1/2 feet wide. It is sitting bare root in a 20 inch octagon basket. At this size it produces 5000+ flowers each year. It has grown about 20% larger than when it was at the Fairchild show in March.
