Micro Burst 'October Fest' This hybrid (Gs. pulchra x Phaius. tankervilleae) is a nice improvement on the Nun's Orchid, Phaius. tankervilleae. Whereas the Nun's orchid is lavender and hangs down like a nun's habit, these flowers stand straight. The addition to a yellow green and red lip to the color makes it stand out in any garden. They like a shady spot and will reward with many flowers every year. Surprisingly they will thrive in high sunlight up to full sun if watered heavily. They normally flower in Florida in April and May. Flowers only grow once on each new growth and the old growth dies off as new growth expands. As old leaves begin to look bad cut them off. It is the natural growth pattern for the plant. These are in 6-inch pots and should flower in March2024 Wikipedia says that if you cut the spikes after the flowers die and lay it flat on soil it is capable of growing new plants from the old cane. It costs you nothing to try, have some fun with it.
